Five years ago, Marco joined LotusWorks as an Exhaust Maintenance Technician, carrying out preventative maintenance on exhaust systems, fan cleanings, greasing, and annual PMs.
Today, he is stepping into a new role as Commissioning & Quality Manager in Santa Clara, California, supporting major Semiconductor projects.
Starting with the Foundations
Marco joined LotusWorks with experience in vacuum and exhaust systems, transitioning directly into facilities maintenance on a semiconductor site where he has remained throughout his career.
Over the last five years, he has supported semiconductor projects across Oregon, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Ohio, Ireland, and Israel building experience across regions, disciplines, and delivery models.
But for Marco, the biggest differentiator wasn’t just exposure to multiple projects it was access to information and opportunity.
“When you start with LotusWorks, you’re opening the puzzle box. You’re given all the pieces. As you move through projects and roles, you start putting them together and seeing the big picture.”
Taking the Opportunities
Marco’s career journey has seen him progress from Exhaust Technician to HVAC Technician, before moving into a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role. From there, he advanced to Mechanical Commissioning Lead and then into a Commissioning Management & Operations Lead position.
Today, he steps into the role of Commissioning & Quality Manager, expanding his scope to include commissioning oversight, quality processes, preservation programmes, and support across Operations & Maintenance delivery.
Each move brought greater responsibility and greater trust.
“LotusWorks puts a lot of trust in its employees and provides a ton of on-the-job training. But it’s also up to the individual to take advantage of that.”

Marco didn’t rely solely on exposure. Alongside his day-to-day responsibilities, he invested time in strengthening his technical knowledge utilising the LotusWorks Training Academy to enhance his theoretical understanding of systems, reviewing P&IDs and sequences of operation to better understand systems and improve the processes around him.
He believes opportunity and initiative go hand in hand.
Relocating between projects and states was one of the biggest challenges Marco faced. New teams, new environments, and new scopes of work required adaptability and resilience.
“It’s scary going into a project kind of unknown. But it’s also one of the best things you can do for your career and personal development.”
Those experiences accelerated his growth technically and personally and expanded his understanding of how projects are delivered across different sites and client environments.
Raise Your Hand
When it comes to career progression, Marco’s advice is simple – “If you see an opportunity, raise your hand even if you don’t think you’re fully ready.”
He encourages employees to apply, interview, and seek feedback even if the outcome isn’t immediate progression.
“Never take feedback personally. Use it as a launching pad. Apply it in your current role so you’re better prepared next time.”
Built on Team & Support
Marco credits much of his growth to the team environment within LotusWorks.
“There is no lack of support here. When someone asks for help, there are 20 people there trying to help them.”
Five years ago, Marco was performing preventative maintenance on exhaust systems.
Today, he is leading commissioning and quality delivery on critical semiconductor projects.
His journey is proof that career progression at LotusWorks is real and achievable for those willing to learn, take initiative, and step forward when opportunity arises.
