Joining the LotusWorks team as an intern provides access to some of the world’s leading manufacturing facilities and the opportunity to gain exposure to the latest technologies and innovations. In summer 2021, six interns joined LotusWorks team in North America to build their experience and skills essential for a successful technical career.
Darragh Sweeney, Commissioning Manager based on one of our client sites in Virginia caught up with the two Interns to hear about their experience and what they enjoyed about the program. Aaron Logan is an intern based on a LotusWorks client site in Virginia and was involved in “assisting with FATs, equipment organisation through large spreadsheets and databases, and created an excel macro to generate a checklist for chemical and gas equipment”. Arron highlights the LotusWorks culture of learning and knowledge-sharing as a highlight and described his team as “hard-working and extremely helpful on all sides”. He also talked about “assisting in fixing the chip shortage” as another highpoint.
Benjamin Jewell, also based on-site in Virginia, “liked being able to do something new all the time and working in a cool facility that had so many pieces of equipment”. Benjamin spoke of “working on and diagnosing issues regarding complex mechanical equipment” as one of the best things about his internship experience.
Both interns felt like trusted team members from day one and spoke highly of their LotusWorks colleagues who “genuinely wanted to make sure we were learning”. LotusWorkers, Ian Denick, Jack O’Brien & Darragh Sweeney made a very positive impact on the intern’s experience having “instantly made us feel more comfortable on the first day and understood our potential”.
The Internship program provides a great opportunity for graduates to gain valuable onsite industry experience. Darragh Sweeney describes the program as providing young college students with “the benefits of being exposed to the fast-paced mission-critical project environment, which will help them develop their skill set and ultimately pave a potentially exciting career path.”
