Your Job Purpose:

As an Instrumentation Apprentice, your duties encompass actively engaging with your assigned mentor to ensure they receive the necessary on-site experience for their training and completing assessments under their guidance. Throughout this Apprenticeship, you will gain exposure to a variety of industries, including Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, and our Sligo Laboratory. You will be involved in setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation for temperature, pressure, flow, humidity, density, viscosity, pH, and conductivity analysis. Upon successful completion of this programme, you will attain full qualification as an instrumentation craftsperson, awarded with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Instrumentation.
 

Job Requirements:

Candidates must possess:

  • Proficiency in Mathematics.
  • A preference for science subjects.
  • Willingness to relocate to various locations as required throughout the apprenticeship.
  • Minimum pass grades in all Leaving Certificate subjects (or equivalent).
  • Successful completion of a Colour Vision Test.
  • Full, clean driver's license required.

Skills you will Gain:

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop proficiency in the following areas:

  • Install, maintain and calibrate process measurement and control equipment
  • Install and maintain protection and safety shut-down systems in the process industry
  • Install and maintain first-up systems; shut down systems; analytical instrumentation; telemetry; weighing systems; vibration monitoring; data and scada systems and information gathering and logging systems
  • Keep accurate records of all calibrations for reports
  • Work with electricity and electronics
  • Use mathematics to solve technical or scientific problems
  • Work on machines and processes.
