“Building a career and seeing the world”
LotusWorker Niall discusses his travel and career journey
LotusWorker Niall is over two and half years working with the company but just over 6 weeks ago he made the move to the USA taking up an opportunity as a Process Commissioning Engineer working on a client project in Rio Rancho New Mexico.
After a couple of months working with LotusWorks Niall decided to put in for an internal transfer request as he wanted to gain experience working in a different sector and client site in the USA. In July of this year, Niall moved to New Mexico working on a LotusWorks client site in the semiconductor sector as a Process Commissioning Engineer. “The internal transfer process makes it so much easier for you to relocate to the states. LotusWorks looked after the visa process for me and made sure that my move over here was as easy as possible. I felt confident that as a member of the LotusWorks team the transition would be easier – and it has been just that”.
When asked how he found the move from Ireland to the USA Niall stated “It is quite different over here; Rio Rancho is a little bigger than Cork alright but the people on my site are great and I am settling into the work. I am not driving at the moment so that is definitely taking some time to get used to, but I hope to have a car in the next few weeks. I am living in an apartment in the same location as the LotusWorks lads so it’s great to have the lift to and from work and be able to meet up in the evenings. I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone, but I know I’ll reap the rewards of the travel opportunities and work here.”
Niall began his LotusWorks journey as Facilities and Utilities Planner working on a LotusWorks client project in the pharmaceutical sector. Having come from the medical device sector it didn’t take Niall long to understand the importance of safety and regulations within this sector. Niall managed all black utilities and maintenance planning, predictive and corrective maintenance, PDMs, shut-down work and managing the nightshift team assigning tasks within the CMMS and planning tools.
When speaking about his early career days Niall was quick to mention the importance of gaining cross-sector experience and how the experiences and knowledge learned can be utilized worldwide. “I’d recommend a career with LotusWorks, the opportunities know no boundaries. For me, travel with work was something that I always wanted to do to further my career cross-sector and within a few weeks of working with LotusWorks an opportunity that I couldn’t refuse came up. I am excited for what’s ahead and looking forward to exploring different states during my time here”.

LotusWorks currently has teams working in 12 states throughout the USA with opportunities in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical sectors click here to learn more about becoming a LotusWorker today.
